Waterfront Warehouse Rehab Project

Cleaning the Facade and Restoring the Brickwork Video

Bob Meets with Jeremy Armstrong from Two Trees Development to discuss the historic façade rehabilitation. The building, with 170 years of New York City grime clinging to its surface, must be cleaned carefully to avoid damaging the structure. Two Trees Development starts by pressure washing the building with plain water at about 1000 PSI, and will gradually add pressure and possibly chemicals until the façade is clean. Armstrong estimates that about 25 percent of the bricks will need replacement, and the mortar in the entire facade will need to be re-pointed. The end result will be a façade that is square, plumb, level and structurally sound.
